‘She is a Delta-Igbo’: Woman makes history as first contestant to win ₦1M on popular ‘Masoyinbo’ show

A Delta-Igbo woman is trending online after making history as the first person to win ₦1 million on the popular Yoruba language show, “Masoyinbo.”

The woman, identified as Iwanike Elejigbaileke, hails from Delta State and appeared as a guest on the latest edition of the show hosted by Olalekan Fabilola.

Iwanike impressed the host with her command of the Yoruba language as she answered questions throughout the contest, missing only one out of the 10 questions.

From the beginning of the contest to the end, she spoke Yoruba without mixing it with English or another language. Her performance left the host repeatedly expressing his surprise with “Omoooo” as she continued to provide the correct answers.

At one point, the host became curious about her background and asked where she was from.

Iwanike revealed that she is from Delta State and identified herself as a Delta-Igbo, a response that appeared to surprise the host.

She explained that she is from the Kwale area of Delta State and developed a strong interest in the Yoruba language from a young age because she lived with her grandmother, who is from the Yoruba-speaking region.

Her impressive performance has continued to generate reactions online, particularly because she is not Yoruba by ethnicity yet managed to become the first person to win the ₦1 million prize on the show.

Several Yoruba actors, actresses, singers, governors, socialites and students have previously appeared on “Masoyinbo,” but none had been able to claim the ₦1 million prize before Iwanike’s historic performance.

Reacting to her achievement on the show, the host, Olalekan Fabilola, told her: “You are the first person to win one million on this show.”

The latest episode marked the 362th edition of the popular “Masoyinbo” YouTube show.
