Tinubu said the empowerment programme, being implemented through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs, is expected to reach 18,500 women across Nigeria.

She said 500 women from each of the five South-East states would receive equipment such as generators, industrial grinding machines, gas cylinders and ovens to support their businesses.

In Imo, Governor Hope Uzodimma provided additional empowerment items for 2,000 women, increasing the number of beneficiaries in the state to 2,500.

In response, the First Lady announced an additional ₦100,000 cash support for each beneficiary of the programme.

She said the initiative was part of the administration’s efforts to promote economic growth and support women’s contribution to national development.

“Let it serve as a foundation for creating a better life for you and your family,” Tinubu told the beneficiaries.
