‘The noise was too much’: Dutch Police shut down Nigerian wedding, order everyone to leave hall and go home

A Nigerian wedding celebration in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, was reportedly brought to an abrupt halt on the night of October 11, 2026, after Dutch police responded to repeated noise complaints from nearby residents.

Footage of the incident, shared on Intel Region’s Facebook page, shows several marked police vehicles parked along a street outside the event venue, with their emergency lights flashing.

According to accounts from people present at the event, uniformed police officers wearing high-visibility vests entered the venue while the wedding celebration was still ongoing. The officers reportedly stopped the music, ordered the sound systems to be switched off and directed everyone inside to leave the building.

The intervention allegedly followed multiple complaints from residents living nearby about the loud music coming from the wedding venue.

Reacting to the incident, the person recording the video expressed shock at the development, describing it as one of the most disturbing experiences they had encountered in nearly 30 years of living in the country.

“I have never experienced this kind of thing,” the individual said.

The person also alleged that some guests were physically handled during the police intervention, expressing displeasure over the officers’ treatment of those attending the celebration.

“This is wickedness. See what police is doing to innocent people that come to enjoy themselves,” the individual said.

The footage has since drawn attention online, with the circumstances surrounding the police intervention and the alleged treatment of wedding guests becoming subjects of discussion on social media.

It should be the other way around, where people migrating to African countries for work, but sadly it’s not. Go home and build up your own country. Next time, vote wisely instead of for criminals.”
